Dear stsing community,
we are sharing an event organized by the Marine STS working group honoring Michel Callons work.
________________________________________________________
Dear colleagues,
With sadness we learned that on July, 28 last year, Michel Callon, one of the main figures of STS / ANT research, has passed away. Among his rich and broad oeuvre, his seminal scallops-study has challenged and transformed STS empirical methodology fundamentally. The "Marine STS"-group honors Michel's legacy by discussing this key study and its impact on STS yesterday and today.
We cordially invite you to join us online on 22 January 2026 17.00-18.00 o'clock CET to a Public discussion on Callon’s seminal study “Some elements of a sociology of translation: Domestication of the scallops and the fishermen of St Brieuc Bay” (1984) with Kristin Asdal (Oslo), Endre Dányi (Munich), Jörg Niewöhner (Munich), Cornelius Schubert (Dortmund), Estrid Sørensen (Bochum). Chair: Tanja Bogusz (Hannover)
